Why join Talentia?
Membership is a forward-looking choice
It is desirable that all places of work have enough staff, that professionals are paid according to the complexity of the tasks they perform, that the working atmosphere is supportive, that work is managed skilfully, and that employees are offered opportunities to develop their skills – not to mention the employer dutifully respecting the collective agreement. This is, however, not always the case, and it is then that the support and help of a trade union become invaluable. Membership stands for security in the present and in the unknown future.A member is never alone
When problems arise, the member is supported by Talentia's staff, the Committee on Professional Ethics, special advisers for different professions and training paths, a lawyer, and shop stewards. Talentia's members are also part of an extensive lobbying network of social work experts who get together for training and recreation.Members have a voice
A member of Talentia is backed by a group of hardy professionals. Over 21 000 Talentia members and over 500.000 Akava members guarantee that our voice gets heard. Talentia and Akava make the voice of their members heard in the preparation of legislation, bargaining, regional policy, and international matters. An individual member can participate by becoming a shop steward or an elected representative in one of Talentia's decision-making bodies, such as the Board, the Council, and the Committees, or in one of Talentia's member associations. An individual member can also contact Talentia and its member associations if a matter requires the attention of Talentia or measures by it.
